Welcome to the Old Buckenham 10km Race.

The race is organised by the Old Buckenham 2000 Trust with entry management and chip timing services provided by Total Race Timing.  All profits from the event will go to the Old Buckenham windmill.

Getting there – Registration is at Old Buckenham Village Hall, Abbey Rd, Old Buckenham, Attleborough NR17 1RH.The car parks will open at 08:00 am – as you approach, please follow the signs to the car park and obey the instructions of the stewards. Parking will be provided by the three village schools and the village hall, all are within a five-minute walk from the start.

Registration Registration will be open from 8.10am in Old Buckenham Village Hall. At registration you will collect your race number (they will NOT be sent out in the post). Please allow enough time for collection on the day. Please enter the requested safety information on the reverse of your race number. Then use a safety pin in each corner to attach it securely to the front of your running top so that it is clearly visible at all times. You must not cut, fold or otherwise change your race number in any way. Your race number must not be transferred to another runner under any circumstances. There will be no refunds or deferrals permitted.

Race Timing– Race times will be recorded with timing tag. The tag will be collected at registration with your race number and should be attached to the lace of one of your shoes.All chips must be returned at the end of the race.

Race Rules– No person (except a blind runner’s attendant) or animal may accompany a competitor at any point on the course – this means no dogs, no buggies, no push chairs, and no following cycles, no children joining in with you as you run up the finishing straight. All competitors must compete on foot. Roller skates etc are prohibited. The course is suitable for wheelchairs.

Under 18s -All under 18s must be 12 years and over and accompanied by an adult at all times. An adult can accompany a maximum of 2 under 18s. The adult is responsible for the under 18's in their care at all times.Any under 18 seen running on their own will be asked to stop.

Personal stereos including IPods etc– The use of personal stereos and similar devices is prohibited during this race. This is because the route is on public roads and runners must be alert and aware of everything that is going on around them, especially as traffic might be approaching you from behind. If the marshals see anyone using a personal stereo or similar device during the race they will be disqualified and not credited with a finishing time in the official results.

Facilities – Toilets are in the village hall and will open at 08:45 am. Please note there are no changing facilities, please come ready to run. A canteen will be open from 08:45am for drinks and cakes. Baggage can be left in the village hall at your own risk. We will have volunteers there throughout.

Start – Please arrive at the start line from 09.45am. marshalls will direct you from the village hall (3 min walk). The race will start promptly at 10:00 am. The start / finish road will be closed to traffic for the event.

The course –This 10km starts in Old Buckenham and then heads out into beautiful countryside along quiet roads.The route will be clearly marked at every Km and will finish back on Old Buckenham Green. There will be a water stations at 5Km, and 8Km and water at the finish. Please note the roads will be open to traffic.

Medical – Qualified medical personnel will be on duty around the course and also at the finish line. If you or another competitor needs medical attention at any time, please alert the nearest marshal immediately. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.

Race Photo – High quality photos will be taken of each runner as they cross the finishing line. Each photo will be tagged with the runners bib number, so it can be easily found shortly after the race on www.totalracetiming.co.uk

Trophies – Presentations will take place in the Old Buckenham Village Hall approximately 45 minutes after the first finisher. There will be a medal for all finishers plus trophies for top finishers in each category of the following categories:


  • Over-all race winners and runners up: male & female
  • First in each age class, male and female: under 18, 18-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+
  • Medal for all finishers.
